Finding the campground: From I-25 take exit 452 in Raton. Turn east onto NM 72 and go 3 miles. Turn left (north) onto NM 526 and go 2 miles to the park.

About the campground: Sugarite is a world all its own, tucked away in the hills outside Raton. Few other than New Mexican locals even know it exists. The setting includes pine-covered hillsides and rolling mountain meadows. If you can include this park in your New Mexico itinerary, you won’t be disappointed.
